The Al-Haq Centre for Applied International Law conducted a three-day-training course from 27-29 of March. The course focused on the rights and freedoms under International Law and Palestinian Law and targeted human rights activists from across the West Bank. The aim of the training was to Raise awareness and empower the participants in the areas related to the Palestinian and international law and international human rights.

The training, which took place in Ramallah, had 25 participants and included several workshops conducted by lawyers Rafeef Mujahed, Isam Abdeen, Naser Al Rayyes, Nizar Ayyoub’ and the legal researcher Ziad Hmaidan. The workshops included the history and evolution of the IHRL, The rights and liberties under the International conventions and Palestinian legislation, the right to peaceful assembly, the formation of the association, prohibition of the torture, anti-corruption, and the transitional justice.

The Centre, which is based in Ramallah, Palestine and was established in July 2009, is the first Palestinian civil society body specialized in the practical application of international law. The aim of the Centre is to enhance the capabilities of human rights defenders by providing them with the essential applied knowledge for defending human rights issues at the national, regional and international levels.
