Human Rights Council: Al-Haq and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) Urge Immediate International Action to Halt Ongoing Genocide
07، Apr 2025

On 26 March 2025, during the 58th session of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council’s General Debate under Item 7, Al-Haq and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) delivered a joint oral statement, raising a grave warning about the existential threat facing the Palestinian people.

Al-Haq and PCHR called on all states to urgently take immediate and effective action to halt Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people and to address the root causes of these crimes, warning that continued inaction amounts to an endorsement of Israel’s international crimes.

Al-Haq and PCHR stressed that public declarations by Israeli ministers –– supported by U.S. President Trump –– explicitly calling for the forced and permanent removal of Palestinians under the guise of “voluntary” relocation, alongside efforts to annex the West Bank reflect a broader coordinated strategy aimed at the permanent removal of Palestinians from their land and the systematic denial of their right to self-determination and return.

Referring to the findings of the United Nations (UN) Commission of Inquiry, which concluded that Israel is committing genocide, Al-Haq and PCHR underscored that failure of the international community to act has enabled Israel’s systematic campaign of forced displacement, mass killings, torture and sexual violence, arbitrary detentions, and widespread destruction of Palestinian homes and infrastructure to continue.

Al-Haq and PCHR underscored that the ongoing genocide is enabled by the silence and inaction of the international community, and warned that failure to act constitutes an endorsement of the genocide and of planned atrocities. To that end, Al-Haq and PCHR urged states to take immediate steps to ensure accountability and uphold international law.

Al-Haq and PCHR’s statement reads as follows:

Mr. Vice President,

Israeli Ministers, supported by US President Trump, have publicly declared their intent to forcibly and permanently remove Palestinians from our land under the false pretense of “voluntary” relocation. Israeli Ministers are calling for the annexation of the West Bank.

The UN Commission of Inquiry has concluded that Israel is committing genocide. The ongoing genocide is enabled by the inaction of the international community. Israel’s complete disregard for international law, its systematic denial of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and return, and historical impunity have fueled its crimes.

Mr. Vice President,

Today, the existence of the Palestinian people is under immediate threat. The mass killing, torture and sexual violence, forced displacement, detentions, destruction of property, and deliberate targeting of Palestinians are part of a coordinated effort to erase the Palestinian presence from our homeland.

Al-Haq and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights call on all States to immediately act to effectively halt Israel’s genocide and address the root causes.

Mr. Vice President,

Silence and failure to act constitutes endorsement of these, and planned, atrocities.

Thank you.
