Water For One People Only: Discriminatory Access and ‘Water-Apartheid’ in the OPT

For many years, the Palestinian population of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, has suffered from a shortage of clean, safe water. However, despite alarming predictions of insufficient drinking water supplies by 2040, based on the expected population growth in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), Jordan and Israel, water is not and has not been scarce in the region.

Where Villages Stood: Israel’s Continuing Violations of International Law in Occupied Latroun, 1967-2007.

Located in the Latroun enclave of the West Bank, north-west of Jerusalem, these three Palestinian villages were razed to the ground by the Israeli army upon its occupation of the area in June 1967, despite the fact that it was met with no resistance. The study presents revealing information unearthed in Israeli government archives, demonstrating the intent behind this destruction. The civilian residents of the villages, numbering up to 10,000, were forcibly transferred out of the area. Over 40 years later, and despite repeated attempts, the villagers have been prevented from returning to their land to rebuild their houses and their lives. They remain displaced in the West Bank, Jordan, and beyond.

Wilful Killing: The Assassination of Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories by the Israeli Security Forces

This briefing paper examines the practice of extra-judicial execution of Palestinian activists and leaders which amounts to wilful killing under the conventions of international humanitarian law. This report illustrates the way in which Israel has manipulated the language of the nature of the conflict, thus granting itself the jurisdiction to perform such assassinations, and creating leeway for justfication of its actions. With accounts of 10 cases of Palestinian assassinations by the Israeli military, this report provides a coherent analysis of extra-judicial executions in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
