18، Oct 2018

Settlement exposure visit in the village of Wadi Fukkin, Bethlehem in May 2018Al-Haq Center for Applied International Law is pleased to announce its International Law Orientation Course for employees of international organizations and diplomatic staff. The course will be held at the Al-Haq Center Applied International Law in Ramallah, on 26th -28th November 2018. The orientation course includes presentations by legal professionals and discussions on key legal issues in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT); International Law and International Human Rights Law and their applications in the OPT.

The course offers two field visits designed by Al-Haq staff, in which the situation on ground is examined in light of human rights violations. One field visit is given in the old city of Hebron, and the second will be in the Jordan Valley to observe forcible transfer of Palestinians and Israeli use of Palestinian natural recourses. This is a great opportunity to professionals to enhance their understanding of the OPT context, and implications of occupations and Human Rights violations.

The objective of the Orientation Course is to help non-legal professionals develop a basic understanding of the human rights situation in the OPT, and expand the knowledge of legal personals on the applications of the different legal framework in the OPT and the violations taking place.

Al-Haq[1]is an independent Palestinian non-governmental human rights organization based in Ramallah, West Bank. Established in 1979 to protect and promote human rights and the rule of law in the OPT.

The orientation course is open to employees of international organizations and diplomatic staff operating in the OPT and Israel. Participants do not need to have prior knowledge in international law or international human rights law.

The orientation course is free of charge. Applicants will be contacted when the selection process is finalized. Please note that participants need to attend all three days of the course. The course will be conducted in English.
